Job Summary
The City of Fort Collins is seeking two (2) separate Senior Supervisors, Maintenance that will lead preventative and corrective maintenance operations for the City’s (1.) Water Production, and (2.) Water Reclamation & Biosolids facilities.
This role includes hands-on leadership and strategic oversight of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and facility infrastructure systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
This position is responsible for developing and managing maintenance programs through the Maximo CMMS platform, including scheduling, budgeting, labor planning, asset tracking, and long-term capital improvement coordination connecting daily operational needs with long-term facility planning, In addition to supervising staff, this role may perform field-level maintenance work and serve as project manager for replacement and minor capital projects. The Senior Supervisor also leads training initiatives to build team competency across mechanical, electrical, and maintenance functions.
The ideal candidate brings 6–7 years of journey-level experience in electrical, mechanical, or utility facility maintenance, strong supervisory capability, working knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance strategies, and the ability to lead in demanding physical and environmental conditions. This is a heavy-duty field-based leadership role requiring on-call availability and a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and team development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
• Maintains overall responsibility for the reliability of plant and system assets for assigned facilities or systems and directs all work necessary to maintain asset reliability targets, including mechanical, electrical and other systems, through both direct supervision of assigned personnel and collaboration with other City teams and contractors.
• Collaboratively leads and supports asset management and maintenance activities, including cross-training, across all One Water treatment facilities and systems as requested.
• Provides leadership by modeling acceptable behaviors and carrying out tasks in accordance with the City of Fort Collins Vision, Mission and Values.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates preventative and corrective maintenance programs including the determination schedules, cost estimates, budgets, worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignment in CMMS program and authorizes purchases.
• Supports and works with other City staff and departments to ensure site security and safety.
• Assists in the development and implementation of master plans and capital projects; may serve as Project Manager for replacement and minor capital projects.
• Conducts research on and develops new procedures to improve operation efficiency, safety and support a culture of innovation.
• Ensures accurate documentation of maintenance and electrical activities, to include SOP development, team specific onboarding procedures, review of and development of plans, schematics and specifications.
• Communicates to other work groups regarding mechanical and electrical projects.
• Conducts an effective training program for staff that ensures competency in all aspects of the electrical and maintenance positions at the Water Production and Water Reclamation and Biosolids Divisions.
• Conducts performance evaluations for assigned asset management and maintenance staff.
• Ensure compliance with the City of Fort Collins and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
• This position serves as a working supervisor and may frequently perform the functions of employees supervised.

• Ability to perform maintenance and repair of equipment (may require design and/or use of lathe, milling machine, drill press and supervision of welding).
• General knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC (including sizing) and electrical.
• Ability to be “on call” and respond on nights and weekends.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, pump curves and other technical documents.
• Ability to lead, manage and organize small projects including preparing bids, managing contractors and communicating with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies
• Basic knowledge of Location Hierarchies; Asset, Location, and Work Order Classifications used for the Maximo CMMS Asset Registry.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA, Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society standards and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering standards.
• Proficient mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory and team management skills.

Experience Requirements
• Seven years experience (or a combination of education and experience) as a mechanic or journey person in the electrical or mechanical trades or the construction and/or maintenance of process infrastructure, equipment, utility facility buildings and grounds with at least one year of which is supervisory experience.
